By a show of hands (aka: tweets, likes, shares, comments, etc), how many of you would like the to transform teaching and learning? Do you believe that if you had the opportunity to reach down and make revisions, you could dramatically change student engagement and achievement? Would you like to be put in charge of education?
The great news is that for many of your students, your school system is the only educational landscape they will see in the 13 years they trust us with preparing them to be valuable global citizens. You can make the change you desire, by starting with reflection and refinement of your own practice. Others will be drawn to the light and joy you’ve created and you’ll start a domino chain reaction (seriously take a moment to watch that segment and consider how to use it in your next staff development).
Little things make a big difference, but nothing happens until something (or someone) makes a move. Let’s get moving!
Chris Lehmann and Zac Chase, authors of Building School 2.0: How to Create the Schools We Need (if you’re in education, stop what you’re doing now and Amazon it) will be joining principals from across North America for the DEN Summer Institute Principal Summit. To prepare for this experience, principals from the Discovery Education Community will be participating in a reflective conversation as they allow Chris and Zac to guide them from theory to practice on ways to build the schools we want and our students deserve.
